The project has been approved within the framework of the “Clean Environment” National Campaign and is financed by the Ministry of the Environment. Creating a rock-garden enriched students’ knowledge about different dendrology species, contributed to their planting skills as well as encouraged their sense of responsibility in protection of the environment.

A lot of activities were taken within the framework of the project. Trees and bushes were planted and the lawns in the school area were cleaned. A ‘green fence’, facing the street by the school, is being built. The following companies contributed to realize the project: The Ecology Department at the Municipality Administration, “Kubratska Gora” Company and The State Forestry Office in Kubrat.  Students, teachers, parents and the school’s staff worked together hard to carry the project out.

Counting the birds

Since 2009  club  ‘Ecology’ has been taking part in an international project  named ‘Observing ordinary   species of  birds in Bulgaria’  .Its coordinator is The Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) .The interest in  the ordinary species of birds and their role in the environment  motivates the members to participate in  nature preserving  activities. Two times a year participants observe and count populations of ordinary species of birds in their natural environment in and around the town.

Interesting is that in the region and in the yard of the school we can see different birds like storks, a couple of woodpecker, starlings, owls and squirrels.
